Mevagissey is located in an ideal area to visit the local attractions and to see the Southern Riviera coast of Cornwall. Mevagissey is a working harbour and therefore visitors are able to hire boats or join trips, including deep sea fishing and shark fishing! Mevagissey Museum is an ideal attraction and close to home, if you are interesting is finding out more about Cornish customs and heritage; it includes photographs and maritime models. Sealife Aquarium is located on Mevagissey harbour and displays a selection of local sea life; all proceeds are donated to the worthy cause of cleaning the harbour. If you are keen on trains then the World of Model Railways is the place to go. With over 2000 model trains and locomotives it is fun for all the family. Lost Gardens of Heligan are located 10 minutes from Mevagissey and some have said it is the largest garden restoration undertaken in Europe. The Gardens were literally 'lost' for 70 years and have been restored as they would have been in the Victorian period. The outstanding Eden Project, designed by Nicolas Grimshaw, is only 7 miles away and well worth a visit. Though open for a few years now it is the most popular attraction in the South West and becomes very busy in the summer months. The Two gigantic plant conservatories are the largest in the world and a fascinating sight to be seen. If you have time do visit but make a day of it as it is surprising how quickly the time goes. Other places of interest are The Old Pilchard Cellars, The 15th Century Church at Gorran, Dodman Point and Caerhays Castle.
