MEVAGISSEY
Mevagissey is a most charming Cornish  fishing harbour on the South coast of Cornwall. The unspoilt and picturesque village has a colourful history of fishing, boat building and smuggling!

Mevagissey's unspoilt appearance of narrow cobbled streets and colour-washed dwellings retains all its character as an enchanting and relaxing fishing village whilst playing host to a number of delightful restaurants, pubs and shops where you can unwind and dwindle away the time.

Fishing still remains one of the main occupations of local people and therefore continues to have a strong influence on the village. With local 'catch of the day' on offer at the majority of restaurants and a multitude of boats in the harbour available for deep sea angling and trips around the coastline you will quickly grow to love this quaint Cornish port.

Mevagissey means Meva and Issey which originates from the town of St. Meva and St Issey which were first recorded in 1313 and is the largest fishing harbour in St Austell Bay. Many famous people have stayed in Mevagissey and consequently it has been the venue for films and books over the years.

Mevagissey is surrounded by coastline cared for by the National Trust thus offers glorious views of the working harbour and is just waiting to be explored!

Ideally located Mevagissey is the perfect place to stay when wishing to tour the South Riviera; situated close to the renowned Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Carlyon Bay and many more places of interest.
